You're reading: UEFA now accepting Euro 2012 ticket applications thru March only

Europe’s top soccer governing body announced today that its online ticketing platform is now accepting applications for the Euro 2012 soccer championship in which 636,000 tickets are being made available to the general public exclusively through the Union of European Football Association’s website on uefa.com.

Euro 2012 soccer fans now can apply for up to four tickets per person to the 31 matches through the UEFA online ticketing platform until March 31 only.

Then in April a lottery will select who will get to attend matches in Poland and Ukraine starting June 8, 2012 and ending July 1, 2012 in which more than 1.4 million visitors are expected in both countries.

“Everything is moving very fast, at full speed, but there’s still a lot to do to prepare,” said Martin Kellen, UEFA’s chief operating officer. “But we’re 100 percent sure Ukraine will be ready for this tournament, it will be an unforgettable month of joy and soccer.”

As UEFA and local officials took the stage at Kyiv’s Ukrainian House with the mayors of the four Ukrainian host cities looking on, the tournament’s mascots, Slavek and Slavko, awarded the first four Ukrainian tickets to a school teacher from Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast whose name was drawn in a preliminary lottery.

“When I received the phone call I couldn’t believe it, and when I did, I couldn’t celebrate because I was at work at the time,” she said.

Ticket prices range from 30 euros to 600 euros depending on the type of match and seat category.
