You're reading: UK not selling military equipment to Russia since March

The UK made a decision regarding exports of military equipment to Russia back in March and it has not exported military-purpose products to Russia since then, British Ambassador to Kyiv Simon Smith told a briefing in Kyiv on July 25.

Smith also said the UK believes the Malaysian plane that crashed over Ukraine was shot down by a surface-to-air missile fired from the territory in eastern Ukraine that is controlled by separatists.

The ambassador also reiterated that the UK does not see any constructive steps taken by Russia to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine, adding that he is convinced that sanctions should be imposed on Russia because of it and the British government will back more drastic action by the EU, which is now being debated.
