Hong Kong has topped the 2012 Index of Economic Freedom ranking conducted by the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal, while Ukraine climbed one position to 163rd from 164th in 2011 out of a total of 179 countries assessed for the ranking.

According to a survey posted on the Web site of the Heritage Foundation, Ukraine’s economic freedom score has grown by 0.3 to 46.1, with the maximum being 100.

Ukraine’s trade freedom scored 84.4 (85.2 in 2011), business freedom 46.2 (47.1), monetary freedom 67.7 (63.2), government size 29.4 (32.9), fiscal freedom 78.2 (77.3), property rights 30 (unchanged), investment freedom 20 (unchanged), financial freedom 30 (unchanged), freedom from corruption 24 (unchanged) and labor freedom 51.2 (50).
