You're reading: Ukraine cuts gas imports by 2.5 times for four months

Ukraine in January-April 2016 reduced imports of natural gas by 2.5 times (by 4.353 billion cubic meters), compared to the same period in 2015, to 2.892 billion cubic meters.

According to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, in April 2016 gas imports amounted to 245 million cubic meters, which is 6 times less than in April 2015 (1.473 billion cubic meters).

In April 2016 gas imports via the Slovak gas corridor amounted to 96 million cubic meters, Hungarian 58 million cubic meters, and Polish 91 million cubic meters.

Gas imports from Russia were suspended from November 26, 2015.

As reported, Ukraine in 2015 reduced imports of natural gas by 15.9% (by 3.1 billion cubic meters) compared to 2014, to 16.4 billion cubic meters.
