A decision of restricting Russian grain transit via Ukraine's territory will be made after receiving the complete information on the situation with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in some Russian regions, Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Oleksandr Sen has said

“We’ve asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia to inform us on the measures taken to prevent FMD. We’ll make the decision on the basis of the information obtained,” he told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.

He said that Ukraine is alarmed at the epidemical situation in several regions of Russia.

“We cannot allow any foodstuff, including fodder grain, to be transported from these regions,” Sen said.

In early July Russia’s Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) said that Ukraine could ban imports of Russian grain that is loaded at the Ukrainian ports in connection with the spread of a foot-and-month disease (FMD) virus.
