Ukraine's envoy to the EU Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has said that a date for holding the Ukraine-EU Summit is still being discussed.

“The summit is a dialogue of the top political level that is held annually. I would like to assure you that, first of all, the summit will be held, and, secondly, a date is being selected today,” he said at a meeting of a press club in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Yeliseyev added that the preparations for the event started soon after the previous summit in December 2011.

According to him, Europe also thinks that it is necessary to hold such a summit.

Earlier, the European Commission said that the date of the summit depends on results of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

“We are waiting for the election results and forming of the new government to start the preparations for the next Ukraine-EU Summit. Due to this fact, the summit is likely to be held in early 2013,” the European Commission said.
