Ukraine and Poland are almost ready to host the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, Ukrainian Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has said.
"We have only 100 days left, and our countries [Ukraine and Poland] are almost ready," he said on Monday during a TV linkup entitled "Warsaw-Kyiv. 100 Days until Euro 2012."
Kolesnikov added that no one in the world had experience in the construction of four new airports and three runways in the time Ukraine had. In addition, he noted that from May 15 Hyundai high-speed trains would be launched between the Euro 2012 host cities, and added that from April 15 until May 30 several new hotels would open.
"It seems to me that Ukraine will take the first position in Eastern Europe in terms of private stadiums," the minister said, and noted that the stadiums in Donetsk, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk were constructed by private investors, while a stadium of a mixed form of ownership was constructed in Kharkiv.
In turn, Polish Sports and Tourism Minister Joanna Mucha said that both Ukraine and Poland are ready to host Euro 2012. According to her, the preparations are being held according to approved plans and schedules.
UEFA Chief Operating Officer Martin Kallen said that Ukraine and Poland are at the final stage of preparations and that all necessary processes are under control.
