Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes.

The National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSAU) told Interfax-Ukraine that the document was signed during a recent visit to Riyadh by a Ukrainian delegation headed by NSAU Director General Yuriy Alekseyev.

The agreement was signed by Alekseyev and President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Mohammed Ibn Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel.

Under the agreement, the main directions of promising partnership cover cooperation in the sphere of fundamental space science, Earth remote sensing, and the joint creation of space technology, in particular, micro- and mini-satellites for commercial and scientific purposes.

The sides also intend to cooperate in space launch services and the creation of ground infrastructure for the space sector.
