You're reading: Ukraine should bring public procurement law into line with EU standards

The European Union expects that Ukraine will bring the law on public procurement into compliance with European standards.

The EU said this in the report on the implementation of the European Neighborhood Policy by Ukraine in 2010.

The EU welcomed the adoption of the new law on public procurement in Ukraine, which entered into force on June 30 2010.

However, the European side expressed concerned over the legislative amendments that were adopted later.

"Legislative amendments giving rise to possible exclusions from public tendering were a source of concern in early 2011.

This influenced the overall assessment of public financial management in Ukraine, so that disbursements from sectoral budget support operations were suspended," the report reads.
