Ukraine will insist on the presence of international observers in the case of a referendum in Crimea, despite its illegality.

“Any decisions of this referendum will be illegal, and there is no other option but to protest and tell the international community that the results of the referendum will be invalid,” Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.

According to him, Ukraine and the international community does not recognize this referendum.

“However, we insist that there should be international observers. So far there is no decision by the OSCE and at the level of international organizations of the European Union, which could monitor what is happening in Crimea,” he said adding that the reason for this was Russia’s blocking the negotiations.
