Ukraine and Turkey confirmed that they plan to expand bilateral military-technical cooperation at the Turkey Defense Week 2015 international conference, recently held in Ankara, the press service of Ukroboronprom State Concern has reported.

Ukroboronprom Deputy Head Denys Hurak said both countries are planning joint projects to enhance security in the Black Sea region.

“Ukraine and Turkey will jointly build up their marine industry to enhance security in the Black Sea region. This field will be one of the key aspects of cooperation,” the official said.

According to him, Ukroboronprom is currently focusing on attracting foreign investment in the development of the Ukrainian defense industry under international standards.

Topical issues of bilateral Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation, including military-technical cooperation, were discussed during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Kyiv in March.

According to the Ukrainian side, promising areas of bilateral military-technical cooperation include building armored vehicles and tanks, aircraft engines, radars, navigation, communications devices, and missiles.
