You're reading: Ukraine’s accession to EU backed by 59 percent, to NATO by 47 percent of Ukrainians – poll

If Ukraine held a referendum on joining the European Union, 59 percent of Ukrainian citizens would 'support the idea', 22 percent would 'vote against it', and the rest are either 'undecided' or 'would not go to polling stations', as can be seen by a public opinion poll of 2,000 respondents aged 18 or older, which was conducted by the Rating sociological survey group on Jan. 14-22, whose findings were published on its official website on Feb. 4.

Only 16 percent of those polled would ‘vote for’ Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union, 62 percent would be ‘against it’, and the rest are either ‘undecided’ or would ‘not cast their ballots’, the poll showed.

Asked whether they would support the idea of Ukraine’s accession to NATO, 47 percent of the respondents said they ‘would’, 31 percent ‘would not’, and the rest were either ‘undecided’ or would ‘not cast their ballots’.
