Ukraine's envoy to the European Union Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has said that the planned EU-Ukraine summit will take place under any circumstances, and its date will be announced soon.

“The Ukraine-EU Summit will take place under any circumstances. The
date of the meeting will be announced in the coming days,” Yeliseyev
told Interfax-Ukraine, while commenting on recent media reports about
the alleged unwillingness of the EU to hold the summit.

Earlier, Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson to High Representative for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the Commission,
Catherine Ashton, said that the summit was most likely to be scheduled
for the beginning of 2013.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the Ukraine-EU summit would
take place after a new Ukrainian parliament was formed. The ministry
said this was the position of the European side, which foresees that
“they want to hold the summit when they know who they are dealing with
and who is the second side of the conversation.”
