You're reading: Ukraine’s parliament does not support health minister’s resignation

The Verkhovna Rada has expressed confidence in the health minister and has not supported a draft resolution on the dismissal of Oleh Musiy as Ukraine's health minister, authored by Batkivschyna faction deputy Roman Stadniychuk and independent MP Anzhelika Labunska, reads a statement posted on the Health Ministry's Web site.

The draft resolution was put on the agenda of a closed-door
extraordinary parliament meeting by Batkivschyna faction deputy Anatoliy
Dyriv “suddenly.”

The report notes that during the vote “all regulatory procedures were
violated: the draft resolution was considered without the conclusion of
the concerned committee, and the minister was not given the right to
speak.”

Musiy, who was quoted as saying by the ministry’s press service,
noted that “the attempt by corrupt officials, whom he prevents from
embezzling state funds, to deal with him through parliament failed.”
