You're reading: Ukrainian diaspora representatives in US stage protest against Yanukovych

Around 100 representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States have staged a protest against the policy of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych near the building of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations in New York.

According to a posting on vidia.us, the media portal of the Ukrainian diaspora, reads that the protesters called on the international community not to trust “the Ukrainian dictator.”

The participants of the event demanded that Yanukovych resign as soon as possible.

The protesters sang Ukrainian songs and chanted patriotic slogans. In addition, they trampled on a portrait of the Ukrainian president.

According to vidia.us, the protest was organized by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

As reported, the Ukrainian president is on a working visit to the United States on September 24-26 to attend the 67th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
