You're reading: Ukrainian foreign minister denies that Ukrainian troops shelled Russian territory

Ukrainian military servicemen are not falling for Russia's provocations and have not fired upon Russian territory, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

“When someone says that Ukrainians have fired upon Russian territory, this does not correspond to reality,” Klimkin said at a press conference in Washington on July 29.

Ukraine has evidence proving that it has been shelled by artillery guns and mortars from Russian territory and that Russian warplanes have violated Ukrainian airspace, Klimkin said.

“But we haven’t fired at them [Russian helicopters] so as not to provoke further developments. We are acting fully in line with international law and are not violating political agreements in this respect,” Klimkin said.
