The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sees the Euro 2012 European Football Championship as an opportunity to improve Ukraine's image on the international arena, Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn has said.

"The number one priority for us is to ensure that Euro 2012 becomes an image event so that in the eyes of the elite from Europe, Russian and other countries, Ukraine shows itself as a country that is able to hold events at a high level," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Voloshyn said that the European football championship would be an impetus towards the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU.
