The Ukrainian parliament has passed at first reading a draft law on the introduction of restrictions on beer and beer-based beverage adverting, reads a posting on the official Web site of the government.

The report says that the decision was made by lawmakers at a session on May 17, 2012.

The document foresees the introduction of a ban on the advertising of beer and beer-based beverages on radio and television from 0600 to 2400.

In addition, it is proposed to ban beer advertising in all printed media, apart from specialized publications, and advertising on outdoor and indoor facilities.

The draft also proposes a ban on beer companies sponsoring television and radio broadcasts, concerts, sports and other events.
