You're reading: Ukrainian population census postponed until 2016

Kyiv, September 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has postponed a second All-Ukrainian population census from 2013 until 2016.

This is stipulated in government resolution No. 699 of September 4, 2013.

As reported, the press service of the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry stated the intention to move the all-Ukrainian population census to 2014.

It was planned to conduct the second all-Ukrainian population census in 2011, but in 2010 the government postponed it until 2012, and in 2012 until 2013.

The last census was held in Ukraine in 2001.

According to the established practice and in accordance with the recommendations of the UN, a population census is held every ten years in most countries of the world.
