Kyiv, Dec. 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The presidential secretariat has voiced doubts that the cabinet has the right to hire foreign financial consultants and pay them "premium-class" remuneration, the secretariat's press service reported on December 24, quoting a deputy head of the presidential secretariat, Roman Bezsmertny, as saying.

“Professional level of consultants is of no doubt. However, does the cabinet have the right to spend taxpayers’ money on “premium-class” remuneration during difficult times for each Ukrainian family?” he said.

On Dec. 23, mayors of all large Ukrainian cities said at a meeting with the president that there are not enough funds for teachers, doctors and other budget workers, while the government pays EUR 10 million each month for services of several foreign financial consultants, he said.

He said that one the mayors said that the situation with the financing of education and heath sector is critical.

“It’s interesting what do consultants advise on the matter? Or are they interested only in large industrial facilities and the forex market?” he said.

“It’s likely that the prime minister authorized the recruitment of consultants to pursue her personal goals only,” he said.
