You're reading: Ukrainian radio starts broadcasting to Luhansk, other Donbas towns controlled by militants

A Ukrainian regional state radio station called Pulse has started broadcasting in a number of populated areas in Luhansk region, said Heorhiy Tuka, head of the Luhansk regional military-civilian administration.

“On Dec. 5, 2015, the Pulse regional state radio can be heard on the FM 105.9 frequency in Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne and Kreminna,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Also, the Ukrainian radio is now available in the areas that are not controlled by Kyiv: in Pervomaisk, Kirovsk and Slovyanoserbsk, he said.

In addition, a transmitter is working at its full capacity in Stanytsia Luhanska on the 99.5-megahertz frequency. This is why the radio station’s signal is received not only in the Stanytsia Luhanska area, but in a militants-controlled Luhansk as well, Tuka said.

This is an important step towards informing the population about the Ukrainian government’s policies, an alternative to the propaganda that “eclipses the brain and souls of the residents” of those parts of the country, which are not controlled by the central government, Tuka said.
