The Russian State Duma and Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada are planning to hold in Moscow a joint press conference on current Russian-Ukrainian relations, Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky has said.

He told reporters that such a conference is to be held at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on June 25. Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Rybak will participate in the press conference.

Slutsky noted that Rybak would arrive on his first foreign visit to Moscow on February 26.

“A meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian parliamentary commission to discuss cooperation in space and nuclear spheres is scheduled for the end of April, and a joint meeting of the relevant committees of the Russian and Ukrainian parliaments is to be held at the end of the year,” he said.

“It’s necessary to work with all political parties in parliament. Parliamentary diplomacy gives a positive effect often in areas it is not reached by official diplomacy,” Slutsky said.
