Unidentified assailants seized Hr 800, a radio transmitter and a video camera from journalists of a TV channel during a recruitment interview in the office in the Desniansky district of Kyiv, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry press service reported on Aug. 6.

“The plaintiff said he agreed on a meeting for recruitment on the telephone number indicated in the job advertisement on Aug. 5. Together with his aide they came to an office in Popudrenko street. Further he was offered to sign a contract on the provision of information services with an option of accommodation at a dormitory near the office, paying Hr 700 to the employer,” the press service said in a statement.

A female employee noticed a video camera in a bag of an aide to the journalist and tried to grab it from her, it reads. Then two men came into the room and started threatening the journalists, inflicting bodily injuries on them; one of journalists was searched and a bag with Hr 800 was seized from him. Some time later the bag was returned to the journalists and they were led out of the office.

The evidence in this case was put on the common register of pre-trial investigations. The investigation department of the Desniansky district police department in Kyiv opened a criminal case for robbery.
