Regions Party leader and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko won the most votes in the first round of Ukraine's presidential election.
This is stipulated in the Central Election Commission’s official result of the January 17 presidential election in Ukraine.
The document says that 35.32% (8,686,642) of voters supported Yanukovych in the first round of the election, and 25.05% (6,159,810) backed Tymoshenko.
