Two counter-battery radars are to be delivered from the United States to the city of Yavoriv in Ukraine's Lviv region this week, the U.S. Ambassador in Kyiv, Geoffrey Pyatt, has said.

The U.S. has provided Ukraine with Humvee armored vehicles, counter-artillery radars, and now two counter-battery radars will be delivered to Yavoriv as early as this week, Pyatt said in an interview published on Friday.

The diplomat stressed that the U.S. is going to continue to support Ukraine.

U.S. assistant defense secretary Slotkin said last week that the current defense budget bill includes $300 million of additional resources, which is a significant increase and a big step forward, he said. This bill should pass necessary procedures before being finally approved, but the U.S. has already started talks with Ukrainian partners on how, in their view, these additional resources being provided by Congress could be used most efficiently to maintain Ukraine’s military capability to defend its own territory, Pyatt said.

In this area, as in others, the number one priority is work over reforms, he said.

The ambassador also said that since the events started on Maidan in Kyiv, U.S. aid for the Ukrainian security sector has amounted to $260 million. The aid includes training which, Pyatt said, in his view, is the most important aid the U.S. has provided.
