Milan - The parties attempting to resolve the Ukrainian crisis will continue consultations on most important issues in the upcoming days, European Council President Herman van Rompuy said on Friday, Oct. 17.

He told reporters in Milan they would continue consultations on two specific but essential matters, namely the elections to take place in Ukraine in the upcoming weeks and months and border monitoring.

He said they had decided that the two issues were most significant and they would be discussed on Friday afternoon and in the coming days.

Van Rompuy stressed the importance of implementing the Minsk agreements on Ukraine.

He repeated the word “implementation” three times and said it was the key issue.

It has been agreed that the Minsk protocol on ceasefire and the peace plan had major significance, they must be implemented as the guarantee of a future for Ukraine,” van Rompuy said.
