Hromadske TV channel published a video by Spanish police, showing the arrest in Barcelona of Stepan Chernovetsky, son of former Kyiv mayor Leonid Chernovetsky.

Stepan Chernovetsky was arrested on July 12 along with 10 other people. He has been accused of organizing a criminal group, money laundering, forgery of the official papers, and crimes against the Spanish treasury.

A video obtained by Hromadske starts with the drone footage of a luxury villa stormed by the police.

Then the policemen arrest several people, whose faces are blurred. But Chernovetsky junior could be identified there by a blue T-shirt, the same he wore on the pictures of his arrest.

The video also shows at least 12 luxury cars, money and jewelry, found at the villa.

The reports about Chernovetsky’s arrest have been widely circulated in the Spanish media.

But Leonid Chernovetsky denied that his son was arrested, claiming that he was staying at home and answering police questions related to another person. “…he has a lot of money in his accounts, which he had honestly earned from the sale of a bank in Ukraine! He is an honest person!” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s police and prosecution general reported they didn’t open any investigation against Stepan Chernovetsky.
