Former lawyer of Ukrainian Ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, Serhiy Vlasenko has stated that the court had no right to attach to the materials of the gas case a Russian court ruling in relation to General Hryhoriy Oliynyk.

"Attaching documents that have no relation to the charges is illegal and unlawful, no matter whether these documents are good or bad," he told reporters near Pechersky District Court of Kyiv on Thursday.

Vlasenko said the attachment of this document to the criminal case on gas supplies constructs amends the indictment, and a special legal procedure is necessary for this.

"According to the Criminal Code, the case has to be considered only within the frames of the indictment," he said.

The MP noted that as far as he knows, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation cancelled all rulings regarding General Oliynyk a long time ago.

Kyiv’s Pechersky Court has granted the prosecution’s request to attach a Russian court ruling in relation to General Oliynyk to the case against Tymoshenko dealing with 2009 Ukrainian-Russian gas supply agreements.

A Russian court earlier convicted Oliynyk for abuse of office in signing a contract between the Russian Defense Ministry and the company Unified Energy System of Ukraine (UESU), which inflicted damages amounting to $320 million on the Russian Defense Ministry.
