You're reading: Yanukovych: Amended bills on law enforcement system must be passed in near future

Important amendments to the legislation on the law enforcement system should be passed soon as part of Ukraine's preparations for signing the Association Agreement with the EU, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“In the next few weeks, as part of our preparations for signing the Association Agreement with the EU, important amendments to the laws on the law enforcement system have to be passed,” Yanukovych said during the All-Ukrainian Youth Forum in Kyiv on Wednesday.

At the same time, the president stressed that amendments to the legislation are only a partial solution to a range of problems in the law enforcement system of Ukraine.

“Today we can hear many complaints about the work of the government agencies… We have to seriously update the personnel at law enforcement agencies in order to change the situation dramatically,” Yanukovych said.
