Ukraine should increase the level of trade and economic cooperation with Jordan, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"In my opinion, the level of trade and economic cooperation does not meet the potential of both countries," the Ukrainian president said during the meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Yanukovych stressed that the country has all opportunities to use the full potential of bilateral cooperation. "Strengthening of economic cooperation should contribute to the activities on a permanent basis of the Ukrainian-Jordanian joint commission on trade and economic cooperation", the president said.

He also noted that Ukraine and Jordan should take every effort to hold the 2nd meeting of the commission in Amman, Jordan, as soon as possible.

The president also expressed his belief that the countries have great prospects for cooperation in energy, aviation and transportation sector, as well as in military and technical cooperation.

"I suggest instructing our governments to thoroughly work through ways to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and Jordan in order to hold the 2nd meeting of the commission and to identify mutually beneficial projects in promising areas, which can be realized jointly," Yanukovych said.
