Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated Francois Hollande on his election as the president of France.
"On behalf of the Ukrainian people and from me personally, I sincerely congratulate you on your election as President of the French Republic, which has shown that the people of France support a policy of renovation and active social policy," reads a letter by Yanukovych posted on his Web site.
The Ukrainian president expressed the hope that France would remain among the leading European countries that had actively and consistently supported Ukraine’s socio-economic and political reforms aimed at bringing the country closer to the European Union.
Yanukovych also invited the French president-elect to visit Ukraine.
