Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law on amendments to some Ukrainian laws on the improvement of a procedure for payments for public utility services, the presidential press service reported on Thursday.

The parliament passed the law on July 5, 2011.

Part three of Article 16 of the law on public utility services says that public utility services are provided to consumers without breaks, apart from breaks for repair and preventive work by executors/producers under a schedule agreed with executive power bodies of local councils or local administrations in line with requirements.

The length of the breaks in provision of services and their frequency is set by the Ukrainian cabinet on the basis of rules, procedures and standards of exploitation of heat pipelines, current repair, overhauls and reconstruction of housing fund facilities.

The law says that executors/producers are to recalculate the size of fees for public utility services if a break in their provision was made under a procedure set by the Ukrainian cabinet.

According to the law, fees for public utility services are accrued every month in line with conditions of agreements and a procedure set by the Ukrainian cabinet.
