Sochi, August 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych hopes that he will reach a compromise on the price of gas that Ukraine is buying from Russia with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev at negotiations in Sochi.

"Surely, we will discuss this issue. I believe it is in our best interests, both those of Ukraine and Russia, to find a compromise solution, and we will be trying to find it," Yanukovych said in Sochi on Thursday before a meeting with Medvedev after a Ukrainian journalist asked him whether Ukraine would seek a compromise with Russia or try to settle the issue in court, if former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is found guilty for concluding the 2009 Ukrainian-Russian gas supply agreements.

Apart from the gas issue, the two leaders plan to discuss bilateral trade relations, particularly disagreements existing in this area, Yanukovych said.

"I think we will find answers and make appropriate decisions today," he said.
