You're reading: Yanukovych holds meeting with leadership of Donetsk region

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych held a brief meeting with the leadership of Donetsk region on Monday to discuss the economic situation and important social issues.

According to the president’s press service, Donetsk Regional Governor
Andriy Shyshatsky reported to the president on the current economic
situation in the region, as well as the process of the settlement of
issues related to the social development of the region and the social
protection of residents of the region.

The participants in the meeting paid special attention to the
harvesting campaign. Yanukovych hailed the harvesting of the first
million of tonnes of grain in Donetsk region. He expressed hope that
Donetsk region would finish the harvesting campaign with good results.

The president also said that the local authorities should make
effective steps to counteract possible natural disasters and prevent
fires during the harvesting campaign.
