Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is "litmus paper" that helps develop democracy in Ukraine.

He said at a meeting with ECHR President Jean-Paul Costa in Kyiv on Friday that Ukraine had well-established contacts with the European Court of Human Rights, which help conduct joint work on the development of Ukrainian democracy.

"To this end, we are holding organizational work to reform the judicial system, the system of criminal justice, law enforcement, and anti-corruption legislation," Yanukovych said.

He said that he was paying attention to key reforms in Ukraine almost all the time.

"I can tell you that I spend most of my time resolving these issues," Yanukovych said.
