You're reading: Yanukovych orders Vilkul to draft energy efficiency program

Turbiv, Vinnytsia region - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul to draw up a comprehensive program for energy efficiency in the utilities and manufacturing sectors. 

“We will consider and approve it. It’s necessary to plan the funds and develop it together with you,” Yanukovych said during his visit to Vin Pellet Ltd. in the village of Turbiv, Lypovets district, Vinnytsia region, on Tuesday.

He said the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, the Ministry for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities and the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry should work on the creation of the program.

Smart Energy Director General Oleksiy Tymofeyev informed Yanukovych about the functioning of the plant and plans for the future. He said that the holding plans to build 20 plants of this type in Ukraine in future.

The plant currently collaborating with agricultural producers from seven districts in the region, and the total resource base in the region is three million tonnes of straw. Tymofeyev noted that a tonne of product produced at the plant can replace 455 cubic meters of natural gas, and the issue concerns ecological fuel.
