New York – Ukraine will take into account best practices of European countries in the reform to establish the rule of law, President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

Speaking at the plenary session of the 67th UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, the Ukrainian president said that the United Nations should be the center of international efforts to strengthen the rule of law.

At the same time, he said that relevant regional organizations should play an important role in this field. “For Ukraine it is the Council of Europe, in particular, the Venice Commission, cooperation with which help us move steadily through reforms in the rule of law and thus realize our European aspirations,” Yanukovych said.

According to the Ukrainian president, the Constitutional Assembly contributes to this process. “During the constitutional development, we are studying and will take into account the best practices of other countries,” the president said.
