Yalta – The presidents of Ukraine and Russia will sign a declaration on a strategic partnership between their countries following the fifth meeting of Ukraine-Russia Interstate Commission, according to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

“Today we’re having a very important event in our relations. The interstate commission, which was created by us, has drawn up some rather serious documents, some of which we are going to sign today. I think the declaration of strategic partnership will take a very important place among them,” he said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Yalta on Thursday.

Yanukovych added that the peoples of Ukraine and Russia are waiting for the countries “to take joint steps towards deepening our strategic relations.”
