You're reading: Yanukovych reshuffles Ukraine’s delegation to Venice Commission

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Maryna Stavniychuk as member of Ukraine's delegation to the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission).

A relevant decree has been posted on the presidential Web site on February 4.

The president also dismissed Serhiy Kivalov as substitute member of Ukraine’s delegation to the Venice Commission and appointed him as member of the delegation.

In turn, Volodymyr Pylypenko was appointed as substitute member of Ukraine’s delegation to the Venice Commission.

The presidential press service explained that the head of state reshuffled the delegation due to the termination of the four-year term of office of its members.

“The head of state highly evaluated work of Stavniychuk and Kivalov at the Venice Commission and thanked them for their effective work,” the press service said.

Stavniychuk is a presidential adviser and the head of the main department for the constitutional and legal modernization of the presidential administration. It is also planned to extend her power due to the reorganization of the presidential administration.

In particular, Stavniychuk is to coordinate cooperation between international organizations and institutions of the Council of Europe.

Stavniychuk also works for the Constitutional Assembly of Ukraine and the Coordinating Council for Civil Society Development.
