You're reading: Yanukovych: SBU could do better during blasts in Dnipropetrovsk

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that he's satisfied with work of the police on the day four blasts hit Dnipropetrovsk, but added that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) could have worked better.

"The actions of the police on the day of blasts were professional. The SBU acted jointly with the police, but its work could have been better," the president said at a meeting of the coordinating headquarters for investigation into Dnipropetrovsk blasts in Kyiv on Thursday.

"When we mobilized forces, we coped with the task, as we have enough of them [the forces]. But if we always worked in such way, we could look better," the president added.

At the same time, Yanukovych praised the work of the emergency medical services.

"Medical aid was provided promptly, so we managed to save lives," the head of state said.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka, Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko, Vice Premier and Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova, SBU Chief Ihor Kalinin, ombudsman Valeriya Lutkovska, and Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Oleksandr Vilkul participated in the meeting.
