You're reading: Yanukovych signs law on State Property Fund

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law on the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) adopted by the parliament on December 9, 2011, the presidential press service has reported.

According to the law, the SPF is liable to the president of Ukraine and is governed by the Constitution, laws, the acts of the president and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as the orders of the president and the prime minister.

The specifics of a special status of the SPF, according to the law, are determined by the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, the acts of the president and consist in a special procedure of appointing and dismissing a chairman of the State Property Fund.

The law also establishes that the State Property Fund should monthly provide the president of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers with the information on the progress of the state privatization program. In addition, the SPF should quarterly provide the head of state, the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet with analytical reports on its work and the progress of the state privatization program. The fund should also annually submit reports on its work and the progress of the state privatization program to the president, the parliament and the government.
