You're reading: Yanukovych signs law to create new SBU subdivision to protect state’s interests in information security

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law creating a new subdivision for counterintelligence protection of the state's interests in information security in the structure of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the presidential press service reported on Tuesday.

The Verkhovna Rada passed this law on December 9.

According to an explanatory note to the law, the document was developed as part of reforming the SBU for an effective counteraction to modern challenges and threats to Ukraine’s national security in the sphere of information.
