Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make a state visit to India in the first half of December 2012, Ukrainian Ambassador to India Oleksandr Shevchenko has said.

He said at a meeting of the press club in Kyiv on Wednesday that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko visited India in 2011 and certain results were achieved during the visit.

“The minister’s visit resulted in the intensification of the work of the Ukrainian-Indian intergovernmental commission, which met in late May, and the coordination of the Ukrainian president’s state visit to India in the first half of December this year,” he said.

He also did not rule out that an agreement on the liberalization of the visa regime with India for certain categories of people could be signed during Yanukovych’s visit to the country.
