The presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, Viktor Yanukovych and Dalia Grybauskaite, will meet in Kyiv on Friday.

Their tête-à-tête meeting is scheduled for 1900, according to the press service of the Ukrainian president.

On Tuesday, Daiva Ulbinaite, an adviser to the Lithuanian president, said Grybauskaite would go ahead with a planned visit to Ukraine despite the cancellation of a multinational summit in Yalta that the Lithuanian leader had been going to attend.

As reported, a summit of Central and Eastern European states scheduled to take place on May 11-12 in Yalta has been postponed, after leaders of Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Bulgaria said they would not attend the event.

In October 2011 Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for exceeding her authority in signing gas contracts with Russia in 2009. She has served her sentence at a prison in Kharkiv since late December.

The state penitentiary service granted permission to the Lithuanian president to visit Tymoshenko in the hospital, where she is undergoing medical treatment, on May 11.
