You're reading: Yanukovych to visit Poland, Turkey on Oct. 7 and Oct. 9

A working visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Poland will be held on Oct. 7, and on Oct. 9 the president will officially visit Turkey, the press service of the presidential service has reported, referring to information from the president’s advisor and head of the an advisor to the president and the head of the main department of international relations at the Presidential Administration, Andriy Honcharuk. 

He said that as a part of the working visit to Poland, the head of state will visit Krakow, where he will take part in the all-round meeting with President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, Germany Federal President Joachim Gauck and President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano.

“The main issue the presidents will discuss is Ukraine’s EU integration in the light of the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November 2013. It is planned to pay attention to the issues of multilateral cooperation in the energy and transport areas,” the press service said, citing Honcharuk.

It is planned that the Ukrainian and Polish presidents will sign the Ukrainian-Polish Cooperation Program for 2013-2015 in Krakow.

The key element of Yanukovych’s visit to Turkey is the holding of the third meeting of the high-level Ukrainian-Turkish Strategic Council, Honcharuk said. During his visit to Ankara, the Ukrainian president will meet his counterpart Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The sides will discuss a wide range of urgent issuers of cooperation in trade, economic, energy, transport, scientific and technical, humanitarian areas, expansion of interregional liaisons and the international agenda.

It is planned to sign a plan of measures to develop relations between Ukraine and Turkey for 2014-2015 and several bilateral documents in the areas of education, competitive policy and forestry.
