You're reading: Yanukovych: Ukraine ready to provide its transport aircraft to complete operations in Afghanistan

Ukraine is ready to continue providing its strategic transport aircraft under a memorandum between the Ukrainian government and the command of NATO in the process of withdrawal of the military mission from Afghanistan, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.

In his speech at a meeting of the contributors to and the states that were invited to participate in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Yanukovych recalled that it has been decided to replenish the Ukrainian staff with the U.S. military flight instructors in August 2012.

"I am also confirming that we are ready to join the Danish-led Coalition of Committed Contributors and make a contribution according to our possibilities to this important issue," he said.

According to the president, Ukraine has joined the Project on Counter-Narcotics Training of Afghan and Central Asian Personnel recently.
"We consider this project important and promising, and plan to further expand our participation in it," he said.
