The government should in three years reduce by two times the level of unemployment of young people, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said at a meeting of the Economic Reforms Committee in Kyiv on Thursday, Sept. 6.

“We should reduce by two times the level of unemployment of young
people during the next three years,” the press service cited the
president as saying.

Yanukovych also instructed the government within three months to
develop a program to solve the unemployment problem of the population
and create new jobs.

“The specifics of various categories of citizens and their social
status, places of residence, and age should be taken into account. My
key demand is that the program should be based on clear criteria of
success. We should set clear tasks for each category of unemployed
people,” he said.

Yanukovych said that if the government finds a solution to the
problem of unemployment, the country would achieve a new level of social
development.
