Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that Russia refused to be a guarantor of the Ukrainian political crisis settlement deal concluded on February 21 and Viktor Yanukovych was the first to refuse to fulfill this agreement.
“The first basic duty was to restore the Constitution of 2004, but
the next day Viktor Yanukovych in public refused to sign this law and
left this deal,” Yatseniuk said a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
“It hurts us that Russia didn’t become part of this agreement. Russia refused to be a guarantor,” he said.
However, all statement of this deal are being fulfilled today, the PM said.
“Ukraine’s government has been formed as it was foreseen by the
agreement, in particular all-embracing government, which was supported
even by the new opposition – Regions Party. 372 lawmakers, as the
Constitution demands, supported this government,” he said.
According to the February 21 deal, the reform of the Constitution
began, and today the parliament created a special interim panel to make
amendments into the Constitution, the premier said, commenting on
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements.
According to Yatseniuk, the new government is taking all measures to stabilize situation in the country.
“We highlight that all [other] signers of the agreement dated
February 21 are fulfilling this agreement, despite Russia refusing to be
a guarantor of this agreement, and ex-president of Ukraine Viktor
Yanukovych was the first, to abandon this agreement. Any other reasons
that Russia invents today to justify its military interference in the
domestic affairs of Ukraine are far from reality,” he said.
