You're reading: Yatseniuk: Ukraine needs early presidential, parliamentary elections

Ukraine needs early presidential and parliamentary elections, says Arseniy Yatseniuk, the leader of the Ukrainian opposition parliamentary faction Batkivschyna.

“Ukraine needs early elections, but simultaneously presidential and parliamentary elections. After all, the political crisis that was provoked in parliament today was born not in the Verkhovna Rada, but in the presidential secretariat and the presidential Cabinet,” the opposition party Front for Change quoted Yatseniuk as saying.

It was the chairman of the Regions Party, Oleksandr Yefremov, who previously suggested that early elections to the Verkhovna Rada could be called.

Yatseniuk suggested that the current political crisis in Ukraine might lead precisely to early presidential and parliamentary elections.
