Ukraine wants to become a part of the new European gas hub being created by Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said after a meeting with Poland's Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz on Sept. 9 in Warsaw.

“Ukraine wants to become a part of the large gas energy hub being created by Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. This means that gas flows between our countries would be free, and we will be ble to freely trade, without any restrictions,” the press service of the government reported, citing Yatsenyuk.

He also said that Ukraine and Poland have signed a memorandum on construction of a gas interconnection pipeline between the two countries.

He said that construction of the Ukrainian section of the gas pipeline would cost around $160 million.

“We’re waiting for calculations from Polish friends,” he said.
